Description
The farm buildings forming the foldyard on the south front of Catford Farmhouse date from the 18th to 19th centuries. This range of outbuildings includes a stable, barn, byre, and shelter shed, creating two sides of the foldyard that faces the farmhouse. They are constructed from random rubble local stone, with some cob and remnants of render in places. The barn features a hipped slate roof, while the byre has a corrugated asbestos roof and the shelter shed behind it is covered with triple Roman tiles. The layout is L-shaped, with the threshing barn adjacent to the farmhouse and a loft over the stalls that connect to the returned outbuilding and byre. The byre includes a four-bay shelter shed at the rear supported by circular rubble piers. These buildings form a cohesive group with the farmhouse.
