Description
Brambles Farmhouse and the attached barn are located in Selwood, West Woodlands. The farmhouse dates back to the early 17th century and is constructed from random rubble with a 20th-century tiled roof and brick stacks at each end. It features a symmetrical front with two storeys and attics, comprising three bays. The first floor has three-light ovolo-moulded stone mullioned windows, while the ground floor has four-light openings, all with a continuous weathered string course above. The central door opening is framed by a double ovolo-moulded stone surround and contains an early 19th-century six-panelled door, with the top two panels being glazed. A gabled wooden porch with a half-glazed outer door is present. There are single-storey outshuts on both the left and right sides of the farmhouse. The attached barn, made of rubble and set back to the rear, is two storeys high with a pantile roof. It has a divided plank door with strap hinges and a ventilation slit to the right of the door opening. This property is part of the Longleat Estate.
