Description

The School House is a former school and attached schoolhouse, now a dwelling, built around 1880, possibly by J. L. Pearson. It features a plinth of coursed and squared rubble with a slate roof and coped verges. The building has three rubble stacks, two of which are capped by a pair of diagonally set ashlar stacks. It is designed in a Domestic Revival style.

The west front is two storeys high and has a layout of 1:2 bays. The left bay on the first floor includes a three-light chamfered stone-mullioned window, with each light topped by a 4-centred head and a stopped label. The ground floor features a canted bay with a similar three-light opening at the front and single light openings on each side, all under a hipped roof. The right two bays are slightly set forward and have single light openings in chamfered stone surrounds, with the ground floor openings having pointed heads under stopped labels. There is a door opening in the right return with a plank door.

To the left, there is a single-storey wing that includes a four-light canted bay in the left return, with each light again featuring a 4-centred head. At the rear, there is a single-storey, four-bay former school room that runs at right angles, with tall two-light stone-mullioned windows, each light having a pointed head. The roof is topped with a gabled stone bellcote that houses a bell.
