Description

The building is a former rectory, now a dwelling, dating from the early 19th century and remodelled in 1880 by J. L. Pearson. It features coursed rubble construction with banded fishscale and plain tile roofs, decorative ridge tiles, and coped verges, some of which have finials. There are four rubble stacks. The garden front is designed in a domestic revival style with two storeys and a symmetrical arrangement of three bays. It has three-light stone mullioned windows, each light topped with a cusped head. The first-floor windows are set in gabled semi-dormers, while the outer pair on the ground floor and the central first-floor window have drip moulds shaped like pointed arches, with floral decoration at the stops. The central bay projects slightly forward and features a canted bay window on the ground floor, along with a sill band at ground floor level. The door opening is located on the right return and has a chamfered pointed arch stone surround with a plank door and decorative strap hinges. Above this is a gabled oriel window with three lights, the central light featuring tracery and leaded lights, along with a symbolic lamb carved at its base and the inscription: "Fear not me for I am meek." A projecting stair turret is located at the rear. The interior retains co-eval features in a similar revivalist style, including two fireplaces on the ground floor with four-centred stone surrounds and moulded cornice-shelves.
