Description
This is a detached house, dating to the 17th century. It is constructed of Ham stone ashlar, with a thatched roof punctuated by stepped coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The building follows a āZā plan, with two storeys and attics, and a four-bay roadside elevation. Throughout the house are windows with ovolo-mould mullions. A projecting gable on the right-hand side (bay 1) includes an oval attic window set beneath a hoodmould, and two bays of two-light windows on both levels, visible on the return face. Bays 2 and 4 have three-light windows, while bay 3 has a two-light window on the upper level and French windows recessed and framed with ovolo mouldings below. The north-east elevation features a gable, followed by two three-light windows at each level. All windows have rectangular leaded glass with solid iron frames. The interior remains unseen. Approximately two metres to the east of the house stands a pair of gate piers, likely dating to the 18th century. These are constructed from Ham stone ashlar, incorporating plain plinths and shafts, and plain tops with tall finials sitting on an unusual base with Gothic moulding.
