Description
The outbuilding located at the rear of Spargrove Manor is likely a former detached kitchen, now used for storage. It dates from the 16th or 17th century and is constructed of coursed rubble with freestone dressings. The building features coped verges with bases for finials, and its roofs are covered with stone tiles and asbestos sheeting, topped by an ashlar stack.
It is a single-storey structure with a layout of 2:2:1:2:2 bays, and it includes stone-mullioned windows with two lights. There are three door openings, two of which have plank doors set in freestone surrounds. Additionally, there are two broad segmental-headed carriage openings, one of which is blocked.
Inside, the building contains a brick and stone brewing vat with a copper, as well as a broad open fireplace with a well-crafted moulded surround. At the time of the last survey in April 1986, the building was noted to be in a poor state of repair.
