Description
Nos 2 and 4 Bove Town is a building likely from the 18th century, with a 19th-century front on No 2. It features a continuous pantile roof that is hipped at the west end and stands two storeys tall. The structure is primarily made of red brick, with No 4 being roughcast. The right side has banded quoins. No 2 includes a cornice-band and a parapet, while No 4 has plain eaves. No 2 has two windows, one of which is a painted imitation, with stepped voussoirs and sashes that have marginal glazing bars. It also features a three-panel door. No 4 has two windows with modern casements on the upper floor and two splayed bays on the ground floor with sashes that lack glazing bars. A notable feature is the good 18th-century pedimented doorcase on No 4, which has dentils and console brackets. Nos 2 and 4 are part of a group that includes Sumner House and the drinking fountain on Lambrook Street.
