Description

This barn, located 35 metres to the north-east of Nunney Castle, dates from around 1500. It is constructed from coursed Doulting rubble with some ashlar, topped by a clay double Roman tile roof. The barn has a long rectangular shape and features two projecting gabled entrances, each supported by stepped diagonal buttresses and barge boarded gables. The broad door openings have double chamfered stone jambs, which are the bases of former 4-centred archways. Between the entrances, there is a later single-storey stable block with a catslide roof and plank doors. The rear of the barn includes diagonal buttresses and three additional buttresses.
