Description
The George Inn is an inn dating from the mid-18th century. Its facade is rendered and lined to resemble ashlar, with slates on the left side of the roof and double Roman tiles on the right. The building consists of two parts, with the main section being two storeys and an attic, featuring 20th-century dormers. It has three bays with paired glazing bar sash windows set in narrow architraves. The door opening is off-centre to the right and features a half-glazed door. The left side has two bays with paired glazing bar sash windows. There is a large carriageway to the left, which has 20th-century stone dressing. A steel beam, which springs at right angles to the eaves, carries the inn sign over Church Street. This beam is supported on a rubble pier located on the opposite side of the street, which is not included in the listing, and is a modern imitation of the traditional arrangement.
