Description
No. 17 Lower Street is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of random rubble with rough quoins, which are reinforced with brick at the top of each side. The house features a double-Roman tile roof and has a brick ridge stack on the left side.
The building is two storeys high and has three bays. It includes two- and three-light hollow moulded stone-mullioned windows, although the window on the right of the ground floor has been replaced. The former central door opening has been blocked and now features a 20th-century two-light casement window in a plain stone surround. The door opening is set back to the left and leads into a 20th-century pent roofed outshut with a half-glazed door. There is also a pent roofed outshut to the right, which has a pantile roof and two broad plank doors. Additionally, there is a wrought iron bracket projecting from the right corner of the first floor.
