Description

Pecking Mill Farmhouse is a house and former mill, dating to the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with freestone dressings and has tile and pantile roofs with coped verges and copings at the roof divisions. The building features an ashlar stack with a moulded cap, a brick stack on an ashlar base, a brick stack with a moulded freestone cap, and a brick stack. The front elevation is virtually symmetrical, arranged with a 1:5:2 bay design. The central section has 12-pane sash windows in moulded stone architraves, and between the outer windows on the first floor are three stone niches for pigeons. A front-facing attic gable with coping and a finial sits above the central bay, which also contains a Venetian window with sashes and glazing bars. The central doorway has a moulded stone architrave, a triangular pediment on consoles, and a six-panelled door with the top two panels glazed. Side units are divided by freestone pilasters, with simple two-light hollow-moulded stone-mullioned windows; the left side includes a loading door on the ground floor. The ground slopes away, revealing a basement doorway in a moulded stone surround. A plank door and a 20th-century door in a similar surround are present on the right wing.
