Description

Crimchard House is a house dating from the late 17th century, with remodels around 1820 and 1860. It is constructed of squared flint and limestone, featuring limestone dressings and quoins, topped with a crested slate roof and brick stacks at the gable ends and right-of-centre. The house has a double-depth plan, with a three-room wide front range from around 1700 and a service wing at the rear right. It stands two storeys high and has a four-window range.

All front windows are painted stone mullioned casements from around 1860, with labelled hoodmoulds. The outer windows on both floors have five lights, while the window above the porch has three lights. There is a projecting square porch with a simple entablature and square columns to the left of centre, and a two-storey, three-light canted bay to the right of centre. The rear wing features a late 17th-century hollow-moulded stone mullioned window.

Inside, the hall has polychromatic tiles from 1860, with an elliptical arch leading to an open-well stair at the rear, featuring cast-iron balusters and a wreathed mahogany rail from around 1860. The left and centre front rooms have cornices from 1860, with vine leaves in the left room and roses in the centre room. The far right room leads to the old scullery, which has a flagstone floor. The cornice on the first-floor landing and passage dates to around 1820.

Additionally, there are attached cast-iron forecourt railings from around 1860, designed in a Gothic style and set on a stone plinth.
