Description
This is a footbridge with railings over a stream, located 20 metres east of Lydeard House. It dates from the late 18th century, although the railings were likely renewed after 1945. The bridge is constructed from red sandstone random rubble with a rendered coping. It features a three-arch span with vermiculated keystones, and the abutments are swept back on the west side, while they terminate prematurely on the east side where the ground rises slightly. The railings consist of simple wrought iron uprights, a horizontal top, a central scroll panel, and curved supports. The ground drops sharply on the south side of the bridge, with water channeled under the center arch, where a stone projection creates a small cascade.
