Description
Nos 4 and 5 South Road are two attached houses built in the early 19th century. They feature painted roughcast exteriors and hipped slate roofs in a Gothick style. The buildings are two storeys high and have a 2:3 bay arrangement. Both houses have 16-pane sash windows, with No 5 having additional marginal lights. No 5 also includes two canted bays on the ground floor, each topped with hipped slate roofs. All window openings, except for one on the first floor of No 4, have stopped labels. No 4 has a six-panelled door, with the top two panels glazed, and a porch beneath a hipped slate roof with a glazed door. No 5 features a projecting roughcast porch with a hipped slate roof, paired doors, and a fluted lintel adorned with a key shaped like an acanthus leaf, along with a glazed inner door in a fluted surround.
