Description

Roundhill Grange is a house built in the early 18th century, with extensions added in 1775 and also in the early 20th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with Doulting stone dressings, and features a hipped Welsh slate roof behind low parapets and brick chimney stacks. The house has two storeys with attics and consists of nine bays.

The east facade now has the entrance, which was formerly on the west side. The original block includes a plinth, a stone string course, and rusticated quoins, along with a dentilled cornice and a low plain parapet. The first bay is slightly recessed and has a stackhead dated 1775 at the rear. Bays two to six form the main block, while bays seven to nine are a 20th-century addition designed to match the original. The windows are plain stone surround cruciform windows with leaded lights, some featuring wrought iron casements, all set under gauged brick flat arches with central keystones. The lower bays eight and nine are blocked by a 19th-century curved range of outbuildings made of local stone rubble. There is a plain surround to the doorway in bay four, which is set in a former window opening, likely from the 20th century.

Flat-roofed dormer windows are present in bays three, four, five, seven, and eight, with the last two linked. The west elevation matches the east side, featuring a centrally located fire stone door surround with bolection moulding and a segmental pediment on console brackets. The south elevation has 12-pane sash windows. There are crown design insurance plaques over both doorways, along with lead stackheads and rainwater pipes. The interior has been rearranged but still retains some 18th-century features.
