Description

No. 40, West Street is a house dating from the 17th century, with a new facade added in the early 17th century. The house is roughcast and has a double Roman tile roof, with two brick ridge stacks at each end. It is two storeys high and three bays wide, featuring 2-light casement windows with horizontal glazing bars, except for a broader 24-pane sash window to the left of the ground floor. A 6-panelled door is located virtually in the centre of the building. To the right is a contiguous outshut with a roof of slightly lower height, and contains a pair of broad plank doors at ground floor level.
