Description
The Poplars is a house featuring 18th century elements and a 17th century wing that is positioned at right angles to the rear. The exterior is finished with colourwashed render and topped with a pantile roof that includes a skylight and four tall brick stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a facade consisting of one bay, three bays, and then one bay again. It has two and three-light casement windows that are fitted with horizontal glazing bars, although there is a blank window to the right on the first floor. The central door opening in the middle three bays features a six-panelled door, with each panel being fielded, and is topped by a flat wooden hood with lead capping supported by scrolled brackets. There is an additional door opening to the left, which is a plank door. Inside the rear wing, there are stop-chamfered ceiling beams, a broad fireplace with a massive wooden bressuaer, and a stone winder staircase.
