Description
21 Queen Square is a semi-detached cottage, which may have originally served as a coach house for the adjoining property at No 22. It dates from the 18th century and was altered in the 19th century. The cottage is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with 20th-century brickwork courses below the eaves and a rubble plinth. The roof, originally thatched, is covered with double Roman tiles, and there are brick stacks at the left gable end and one that abuts the right side of No 22. The building has a two-cell plan with a cross passage. It stands two storeys high and features two bays. The first floor has many-paned casement windows from the 19th century, while the ground floor has large segmental-headed window openings with square-headed many-paned casements and panelled wooden infill above. The central entrance is a six-panel door with inserted lights, and there is an asbestos slate pentice porch supported by wooden piers.
