Description
The gazebo and walls enclosing the kitchen garden and garden to the west of Halse Manor Hospital date from the mid-18th century. The walls are made of red sandstone random rubble, standing approximately 3 meters high and extending about 60 meters to the west of the rear elevation of Halse Manor Hospital, with a width of 50 meters. The coping consists of triple Roman tiles on the south side, flat tiles on the north side, and stone coping on the west side. At the west end of the kitchen garden, there is a ramped wall with square-headed doorways, featuring rusticated voussoirs on either side. In the center, a gazebo made of random rubble has three pointed arch openings, a ramped parapet, and a slate lean-to roof at the rear that projects into the kitchen garden. The wall to the south, which supports a terrace walkway, is pierced by a flight of steps from the 20th century.
