Description

This is a two-storey house with a basement, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is located in Dampiet Street, Bridgwater, and is set back from the adjacent Methodist Church. The house is constructed of Flemish-bond brick with stone stepped voussoirs, cills, and a hood over the front door. It has a double-pitched pantile roof with brick stacks at the left gable ends. The building follows a double-depth plan and has a two-window front. The eaves feature a bracketed cornice, and there are 20th-century railings to the basement. The windows are sash windows; those on the second floor have 3/6 panes, while the other floors have 6/6 panes. The front door is a late 19th-century four-panel design with bolection moulding to the top and beaded panels at the base. It features a cast-iron knocker and an overlight flanked by fluted pendants below brackets to the hood. The interior was noted to have panelled shutters on the ground floor, although it has not been inspected.
