Description
Two cottages, dating from the 17th century with an enlargement in the 18th century, and altered in the 20th century. They are built of rendered rubble with a thatched roof, featuring a half-hipped cross gable and brick stacks at the gable ends. The cottages are arranged in an L-shape, with a gable end facing the road and a cross gable to the right, and a wing at the rear. They are one and a half storeys high, with cruciform dormers. The left gable end is unlit. The ground floor features a three-light leaded iron casement to the left of the entrance, a 20th-century window to the right, and an early 19th-century leaded iron three-light mullioned and transomed window in the re-entrant angle. A plank door is located in the gable end, alongside a 20th-century two-light casement in the cross wing. A thatched wooden trelliswork porch shelters a half-glazed 20th-century door. Raking buttresses are present on the left return. The interior has not been inspected. The cottages occupy an important site at the entrance to Williton from the Minehead road.
