Description
Nos 23, 24, and 25 Christchurch Street East are a group of three buildings dating from the 18th century, as shown on a map of 1744. They have been altered since their original construction. The buildings are two storeys and have attics, with rendered exterior walls and tiled roofs. No. 23 has a painted facade, and each of Nos 23 and 24 has a single raking dormer window in the roof. Three chimneys are present, the central one constructed of rubble.
No. 23 features two modern wood casement windows on the first floor and two 3-light casement windows on the ground floor. The ground floor windows have a lintel that continues across the doorway, alongside a single-light window to the right. Nos 24 and 25 have three windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, all being glazing bar sashes within block surrounds. The buildings have paired doorways, each with a ½ glazed door and five raised and fielded panels below.
The interior of No. 24 includes a large fireplace on the ground floor. Nos 23-28, Christchurch Street East, collectively known as Plumbers Barton, connect Christchurch Street with Vicarage Street via an alley.
