Description
The range of farm buildings at Wambrook Farm, dating from the mid-19th century, surrounds a foldyard and includes stables, a carriage house, a barn, a horse engine house, and a roofless structure. Constructed from random rubble local stone, the buildings feature quoins at the openings, slate roofs, decorative ridge tiles, coped verges, and ball finials. The layout is 'L'-shaped, facing south and east towards the foldyard, with the engine house located in the north-west corner.
These buildings are one and a half storeys high, with all wooden window openings that have unusual decorative trefoil-shaped heads and diamond leading. The eastern range has a gabled top above the double doors of the loft on the right, and a pair of double doors with pointed tops on the ground floor, along with a single light window to the right. The south-facing range features a gable loft opening on the left, a square-headed opening below the eaves on the right, ground floor double doors with pointed tops on the left, and a 2-light mullioned and transomed window under a relieving arch, as well as a door with a jointed head and another 2-light window under a relieving arch.
There is also a single-storey range abutting to the south, which has two mullioned and transomed windows below the eaves and a door with a pointed head. The north wall of an unidentified building returns to the range. The interiors are partly visible, showcasing king post roofs. The pyramid-roofed horse engine house now contains a grain drier. This group of mid-19th century farm buildings is considered to be of good quality.
