Description
Brookside Cottage is a semi-detached cottage, likely dating from the later 17th century. It is constructed of ham stone, with squared blocks and ashlar dressings, and has a thatched roof punctuated by coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. The cottage is two storeys high with two wide bays. On the front, the ground floor has two-light hollow-chamfered mullioned windows with labels. The upper floor features three-light casement windows of an early design, with rectangular leaded lights and iron-framed opening lights. A boarded door is situated between the bays, set within a heavy frame and covered by a timber lintol. The west gable includes an oculus window with a hood mould to the first floor, and below it a lean-to with a corrugated asbestos cement sheet roof, containing garage doors to the north and a two-light chamfered mullioned window to the west. Similar windows and a door are found at the rear. The interior’s condition is unknown, but it may have seen limited alteration. Brookside Cottage is attached to Brook Cottage on its east side.
