Description
This building is a barn located in the farmyard adjacent to the north of the gatehouse to Cathanger. It dates from the 16th century, with alterations from the 17th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The structure is built of coursed and squared lias stone, featuring Ham stone banding on the east gable end. The south gable is clad in corrugated iron, and the roof is covered with double Roman tiles, complete with a coped verge that has a base for a finial. The barn has a rectangular plan and includes a broad waggon opening with paired divided plank doors, strap hinges, and a weatherboarded transom. There is a similar door opening at the rear, and inside, there are niches for birds.
