Description
The Dampier Chest Tomb is located in the churchyard about 7 metres west-southwest of the west tower of the Church of Saint Mary. This chest tomb dates from the late 18th century and is made of Doulting and Keinton stone. It features a moulded base, plain Keinton slab sides, and a deep top moulding with a slightly hipped top. There are traces of incised work on the south flank, and part of an inscription on the east side is readable, which includes the name John Dampier, who died in 1809.
