Description
The Brompton Ralph War Memorial is a village memorial dating from around 1920. It features a granite cross mounted on a granite plinth, with a concrete base. The memorial is located next to the churchyard along the main road through the village, with its principal front facing south.
The cross is designed in a Celtic style, square in section with rough-hewn surfaces, and it rests on an irregularly shaped plinth. The plinth is inscribed with the words, "1914 - 1918/ IN MEMORY OF OUR FALLEN/ (NAMES)/ 1939 - 1945/ (NAMES)", with the inscriptions carved directly into the granite.
Surrounding the monument are eight granite pillars, also square in section and topped with pyramidal heads, which are linked by metal chains.
