Description
A village war memorial of c.1920.
MATERIALS: a granite cross on a granite plinth, with a concrete base. Granite posts linked by metal chains.
DESCRIPTION: the monument sits adjacent to the church yard on the main road through the village. The principal front faces south. The celtic style cross is square in section with rough-hewn surfaces, and sits atop an irregular shaped plinth on which is carved the inscription, "1914 - 1918/ IN MEMORY OF OUR FALLEN/ (NAMES)/ 1939 - 1945/ (NAMES)". The inscriptions are carved directly into the granite.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: the monument is surrounded by eight granite pillars, square in section with pyramidal heads. These are linked by metal chains.
