Description
The altar tomb, dating from the 18th century, is located 2 metres south-west of the tower at the Church of St Mary in Bishop's Lydeard. It is made of Portland stone and has an almost square shape with a pyramid top. The tomb features an egg and water leaf moulded cornice and a moulded plinth, although the plinth is largely hidden by ivy. The south and east sides of the tomb are blank, and the north side was completely obscured by ivy during a survey in April 1983. The inscription on the west side is illegible.
