Description
No. 29 is a house located on the east side of High Street in Butleigh, with a freestone plaque on the gable face inscribed "1635 M.K.E.K." and a further plaque reading "R.N.G. 1873" that indicates a restoration. The building is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with a tile roof featuring coped verges, one of which has a finial. It has three brick ridge stacks and a 20th-century skylight. The house is single storey with an attic, comprising two bays with a total of four windows. The windows are three-light, ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned types under stopped labels, with those on the first floor located in gabled dormers that also have copings and finials. There is a central door opening with a 20th-century studded plank door. To the right of the main frontage, there is a 19th-century three-light stone-mullioned window adjacent to a hipped roof wing, along with a further two-light stone-mullioned window. The forecourt wall is made of rubble with a dressed coping. Inside, there is a fireplace with a moulded dressed stone surround, a framed ceiling, and a door opening in a dressed stone surround.
