Description
A row of three almshouses, dating from the 18th century, with number 3 specifically dated 1755. The buildings are constructed of coursed and squared rubble, with pantile roofs. A section of the roof to the left is covered with lower-height double-Roman tiles. There are four brick stacks. The arrangement is 1:1:2:1 bays. The windows are stone-mullioned, with two and three lights. Casements on the ground floor right have a broad stone dividing mullion and a cornice dripmould. Originally, there were paired door openings. A weathered string course runs at first floor level. Three door openings are present, with plank doors, except for the panelled door at number 1. Three stone plaques are affixed to the front: the plaque to the left is inscribed "HBL 1755", the central plaque is inscribed "WH" with a decayed date, and the plaque to the right is inscribed "WH" with an heraldic shield.
