Description
This is a row of four cottages located on Alvington Lane, dating from the early 19th century, possibly incorporating earlier elements. The cottages are constructed from roughly cut and squared ham stone, with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof featuring coped gables and brick chimney stacks. They are two storeys high and consist of four bays.
The windows are hollow chamfered mullioned types set in chamfered recesses, with two-light windows above and three-light windows below. The first bay has a lower window with an ovolo-mould mullion. There is a continuous string label above the lower openings, which steps up over the central doorway of No. 4. The doorways to the right of the first and fourth bays and to the left of the second bay are plain chamfered with plain boarded doors. Above the central doorway, there is an uncarved shield plaque. The rear of the cottages has various extensions. The interior has not been seen.
