Description

There is a pair of chest tombs located about 4 meters east of the chancel at the Church of St Mary. These tombs date from the early 17th century and 18th century and are made of an unidentified stone, possibly Ham stone. Both tombs have ledger tops and feature moulded cornices and plinths. They are set about 250 millimeters apart and were found to be much overgrown during a survey in May 1985.

The northern tomb has ovolo moulded panels, with two inscriptions; however, the name is not legible, though a date from the 1630s can be discerned at the west end. The southern tomb has illegible inscriptions on the south side and unmoulded panels, with possibly more inscriptions hidden beneath the vegetation.
