Description
This barn, now used as a residence, is located in the farmyard adjacent to the south of the Gatehouse to Cathanger. It dates from the 16th century, 18th century, and 20th century. The structure is built of coursed and squared lias stone with Ham stone banding at the east gable end. It features a coped verge with a base for a finial and has a painted corrugated-iron roof. The barn is rectangular in shape and has an elevation facing the farmyard that includes two large wagon openings, as well as evidence of a blocked window opening and a blocked door. Inside, there is an 8-bay cruck roof, with an additional bay from the 18th century that has an altered 20th-century roof. A 20th-century lean-to attached to the barn is not of special interest.
