Description

Burcott Water Mill and Mill House is a mill and mill house from the 18th century, significantly rebuilt in the mid to late 19th century. The structure is made of rubble, with some coursed and squared sections, and features a double Roman and pantile roof with coped verges, one of which has a ball finial, and brick stacks.

The building has an irregular T-plan and stands two storeys high. The road-facing side is mostly blank, with three casement windows that have wooden lintels. The right side of the building has seven bays, with two-light moulded-stone mullioned windows, some of which have iron casements. There are five door openings with dressed-stone surrounds and four-centred arch heads, including a plank door, two ribbed doors, a half-glazed door, and a 20th-century wrought-iron grille.

Inside, there is an iron overshot waterwheel, and most of the milling machinery remains intact, which was used for grinding corn.
