Description
This is a dovecote located in the grounds to the east of Ivythorn Manor, likely built in 1578 for Sir John Sydenham, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The structure is made of random rubble and features a triple Roman tile roof, with a rectangular plan. It has a two-stage buttress at the southeast corner and a door opening on the south elevation that has a 4-centred head with a dressed stone surround, leading to a recessed ribbed door. The north elevation has paired plank doors, and above these are openings for doves. Inside, the dovecote is completely lined with nesting holes, and a later floor has been inserted.
