Description
This is a gazebo built in the late 19th century by S. Thompson Clothier. It features a brick structure with a roughcast upper stage, wide bracketed eaves, and a pyramidal tile roof that has a bellcast and a turned wooden finial. The design is in the Tyrolean style and is square in plan, with the first floor slightly jettied. The ground floor window openings are blocked, while the upper stage has casements with glazing bars on each side; the northern side has paired windows, and the southern side has a half-glazed door that has been boarded over since the last survey in January 1985. The external staircase is missing. This gazebo is an interesting example of an eccentric building and is part of the estate of Whitenights, although that estate is not of special interest.
