Description
The White House is a house dating from the early 19th century. It features roughcast walls with end pilasters and has three bays on the left under a slate roof with coped verges and end ashlar stacks. The right bay has a parapet with moulded coping. The building is two storeys tall and has six bays with 16-pane sash windows that have stepped voussoirs. The central door opening is semi-circular with an emphasised keystone and imposts, leading to a six-panelled door set in a recess, topped with a fanlight that has radiating glazing bars. To the right, there is a secondary door opening with a 20th-century glazed door, also featuring stepped voussoirs.
The forecourt wall is made of rubble with a dressed coping and includes a central pedestrian gateway flanked by ashlar piers with moulded and hipped caps, supporting a decorative railed wrought-iron gate. To the right, there is a broader gateway with squared rubble piers that also have moulded and hipped caps, leading to paired wrought and cast-iron gates.
