Description

The gate piers to Dalton Hall date from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a restoration in the 20th century. They are made of ashlar sandstone and feature square piers. The top of the eastern pier has been rebuilt and displays banded chamfered rustication along with torus banding on the front and back. Both piers have Ionic friezes. The western capital includes a dentilled design below a moulded cornice and has a convex plinth supporting a ball finial. The eastern capital has a plain cornice and a chamfered base leading to its ball finial.
