Description

The Nook and Corner Cottage, along with attached outbuildings, are two cottages dating from the 18th century, constructed in several phases. They are built of rubble, with partly coursed walls and roofs made of pantiles and Welsh slate, some featuring stone slates at the eaves. The buildings are two storeys high.

The Nook, located on the left, is from the early to mid-18th century and has a coursed rubble exterior with a pantile roof and stone slates at the eaves. It features one first-floor window, quoins on the left side, and a partly-glazed door set in a quoined ashlar surround. Each floor has a 2-light casement window in a flush ashlar surround, with a shaped kneeler and raised verge on the left side, and end stacks. To the left, there is a lower outbuilding with a board door on the right and a raised verge on the left.

Corner Cottage, on the right, dates from the mid to late 18th century and is constructed of rubble with a Welsh slate roof and stone slates at the eaves. It has a central part-glazed door flanked by a 2-light casement window on each side, both with deep lintels. On the first floor, there is a 6-pane sash window to the left and a 2-light casement window to the right, with ashlar coping on the right side and brick end stacks. To the right, there is an outbuilding featuring quoins on the right, a ground-floor board door, a first-floor shuttered opening, and a pantile roof. All buildings have reversed crowstepped gables.

The interiors have not been inspected, but it is noted that the ground-floor room to the right of the door in Corner Cottage has fielded panel shutters. Corner Cottage and its attached outbuildings are included for their group value.
