Description

These are two cottages, originally a single house, dating to the early 18th century or possibly earlier, and raised and remodelled in the 20th century. The construction is of coursed rubble limestone with irregular quoins on the left end, and the roof is covered in pantiles. The building has a low two-storey, four-window front, with a gable end facing the street. A blocked doorway is situated to the left of the centre, with present entrances at the rear. A small fixed window is located to the right of the centre. The remaining windows are large-pane horizontal-sliding sashes, with three lights on the ground floor to the right, and two lights to the others. Thin timber lintels are present above all of the openings. There are end and centre stacks. In its original form, the house was occupied by the Wrelton Iron Foundry blacksmith during the 19th century.
