Description
Craven Bank is a schoolhouse built around 1804 and 1817. It features a rendered exterior with stone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a central staircase plan and was originally two storeys with three bays. The central entrance is framed by a Tuscan pilaster surround and an open pediment, leading to a six-panel door with the top two panels glazed and a round-headed fanlight above. The ground floor has two windows and the upper floor has three, all with plain surrounds and sash windows: the ground floor windows have 15 panes each, while the upper floor windows have 12 panes each. The building also has projecting quoins and a mid-20th century dormer. At the left side, there is a recessed extension from around 1817, which is two storeys and one bay, featuring 15-pane sashes on the ground floor and 12-pane sashes on the upper floor. Gable end ridge stacks complete the structure.
