Description

The front wall to the garden and gate piers at Carlton Hall dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed of brick in English garden wall bond and extends in front of the house and to the right towards the stable block. Originally, there was a gateway that is now blocked, located opposite the front door of the house. The wall features a ramped center and has ashlar coping. At the right end, there are five gate piers, with two pairs flanking the gateways and one serving as a terminal at the stable block. These gate piers are square in plan and topped with ashlar ogee caps.
