Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with a roof that was replaced in the 19th century and some restoration in the 20th century. It is built of brick in a random bond pattern, with ashlar quoins and a pantile roof. The building has two storeys and four bays. The entrance features a six-panel door with a diamond-glazed overlight above the second bay. Throughout the house, there are sash windows with glazing bars set in flush wood architraves, and lintels above the first-floor windows. An ashlar band runs at the lintel level of the ground-floor openings, with keystones above them. There are 19th-century brick chimney stacks on the left side and a ridge stack between the third and fourth bays. At the rear, there is a tall blocked window beneath a moulded brick pediment, which likely originally lit the stairs and featured an eared architrave. Inside, the right-hand chimney stack serves a large fireplace on the far right and corner fireplaces in the central rooms on both floors. The first-floor fireplace is made of wood and has bolection moulding along with a cast-iron basket grate. The bolection moulding is also present on other fireplaces. Although the staircase has been rebuilt, some of the bulbous balusters are original.
