Description

Longfield Farmhouse is a late 18th-century to early 19th-century house situated on the south side of Main Street, Middleton Tyas. The house is constructed of rubble with a pantile roof. It is two storeys high with three first-floor windows. The façade features quoins. A board door is positioned between the first and second first-floor windows. To the left of the door is a small window, and on the first floor a 16-pane sash window. The second bay contains a 20th-century casement window on both ground and first floors. The third bay features a 16-pane sash window on each floor. These 16-pane sash windows are characterised by deep stone lintels, with the first-floor windows being smaller than the ground-floor ones. Ashlar copings are present along the roofline. A brick stack is located between the second and third bays. The building was previously used as a public house, known as The Black Bull.
