Description
Westhouse Lodge is a farmhouse dating from around 1730, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of pebbledash rubble with stone dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building has a central staircase plan and stands two stories high with three bays. The central entrance has a moulded surround and a segmental arched lintel, leading to a mid-20th century door. Above the entrance is a datestone in the style of the 1730s, though the inscription is badly weathered, making only the letter 'H' legible. On the ground floor, there are flanking three-light recessed flat faced mullioned windows with eight-pane sashes and fixed lights. The upper floor features three two-light recessed flat faced mullioned windows, also with eight-pane sashes and fixed lights. The building is adorned with mid-19th century paired eaves modillions. The left-hand gable end and the right-hand stack are part of the former gable, now at the junction with Westhouse Lodge Cottage.
