Description
Westhouse Lodge Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 19th century, with 20th-century alterations and origins in the 17th century. It is constructed of slobbered squared rubble with stone dressings and has a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has two bays, with a mid-19th century wing adjoining Westhouse Lodge.
The left-hand entrance features a late 17th-century moulded surround, and the decorated lintels, although badly weathered, appear to be inscribed with "EKH 1686," leading to a door added around 1980. The ground floor has a casement window from circa 1980, while the upper floor has a fixed light with 12 panes. The right-hand side displays chamfered quoins, a kneeler, and a gable end ridge stack. The left-hand wing contains a blocked 17th-century chamfered entrance and two windows from circa 1980, along with mid-19th century eaves modillions. The rear of the cottage includes a ground floor chamfered single light window and an upper floor two-light chamfered window. The interior is not accessible. The cottage is included for its group value.
