Description
Newby Farmhouse is a house built in the early 19th century, with a raised and extended rear added in the mid-19th century. It features dark red Flemish bond brick on a stone plinth and has a slate roof with stone coping and kneelers. The house has a central staircase hall and a symmetrical two-storey front with three windows. Stone steps lead up to a central four-panel door that has a rectangular fanlight in a plain doorcase. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, with the ground floor windows being taller than those on the upper floor. All openings are topped with channelled wedge lintels that have keyblocks. There is a string course at the first floor level and a dentilled eaves cornice, along with end stacks.
