Description
No. 431 Scalby Road is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, built in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone and features a slate roof with brick stacks. The house has a central stairhall plan and is two rooms deep. It has a symmetrical two-storey front with three windows. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door topped by a patterned radial fanlight, which is set beneath a pedimented stone door-hood supported by stone corbels. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, and they have stone sills and channelled wedge lintels with grooved keyblocks. The gable walls are coped and have kneelers, along with the stacks.
