Description
Brafferton Hall East and Brafferton Hall West is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It was originally the dower house for the Coates family of Helperby Hall and dates from around 1800, with significant alterations and additions made in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to both the street and garden fronts. The building is constructed of brick and has a pebble dashed finish, with 20th-century pantile roofs and pebble dashed chimneys.
The house is two storeys high and features four bays, with an additional four-bay extension to the left. There is a porch topped with a segmental lead roof, and a half-glazed six-panel door. To the right of the porch, there is a canted bay window that extends two storeys high and features a sundial. To the left, there is a single-storey canted bay window. Inside, there are several original fireplaces with grates. The road front displays Edwardian extensions made of brick and stucco, featuring varied window designs.
