Description
The Blacksmith's Shop is a former house and stable block, now functioning as a house. It likely dates from the early to mid-18th century and has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of orange-red brick with a pantile roof. It has a direct-entry plan and stands two storeys high, originally featuring three first-floor windows, although currently there are two. At the rear, there is a low storey outshut that was once part of the stable block. A step leads up to a 20th-century glazed door, and there are 20th-century casement windows beneath blocked elliptical arches, with the opening to the left of the door being wider. There is also a blocked opening on the first floor under an elliptical arch. The building has a capped first-floor band and a dentilled eaves cornice, along with a swept roof and stacks at the end and rear. Inside, the left room features a chamfered bressummer beam.
